to keep the "CEL" from coming on, just leave the vacuum solenoid hooked up. plus the ECU never activates the VTCS plates after it's warmed up anyway.they just sit there adding flow restriction (even though opened). the flow increase isn't huge like bolting on a turbo. It's not going to cause an excessive lean condition. The 99-00 intakes all have VICS, in any country You can make your own 01-05 "JDM" intake by just removing VTCS yourself! much cheaper and easier, and the gains will practically be the same! Feel free to guess if you don't know for sure. Any down side or will it just be like any other mod where there's some power gains but not as much as if you had a custom tune for the mods? Any chance of causing a lean condition? Lack of VICS issue for 99/00? Thanks. I've seen more and more mention of JDM/EDM '01+ intake manifolds on cars but has anyone installed one with a stock ECU? I'm sure a piggyback or stand-alone would help get more power and optimize it's benefits. Red_5's car may benefit similarly or it may be too lean and melt a piston. So they benefit from a bit more air and a better air/fuel mixture. One simple reason most stock cars make a bit more power after improving breathing a little is that they are rich to begin with at full load, leaning out close to optimum with say and exhaust or intake kit. I doubt the USDM ECU is allowing any engine to make more power than the JDM or EUDM cousin. We leaned it out a bunch and added about 8° timing. It runs lean at cruise, rich with very little timing everywhere else. My guess is the EUDM ex manifold makes as much power as a Racing Beat header. Non USDM 01-05 4/2/1exhaust manifold is a significantly better design than the awful USDM 4/1 manifold. We also have to remember that EUDM '01+ exhaust mainfold is different from USDM (its 4-2-1) so it may sacrafice a bit of top end power. I have no doubt that the rental is producing 160-170whp with AEM, but I was reffering to the setup with stock ECU You had before - that's what I'm planning, at least for now. Maybe it's a question of emissions? I studied Your build in detail. Emilio, I only meant that the US stock Ecu's may be tuned slightly differently than EUDM one.
